[[You]] pick up the phone and call Emily's cell.

"Hello?" you hear her say when she picks up the phone.

"Emily, this is Parker," you say.

"Parker?  What's wrong with your voice?" she says, sounding concerned.

"Nothing.  I'm just a bit under the weather.  Listen, can you come out to Rosestead and pick me up?"

"Well, I don't know....  Where do you want to go?" she asks.

"Can we talk about that when you get here?" you say.

"Parker, this is awfully short notice and I've got a lot of stuff to do.  Could you be a little less mysterious and tell me what this is about?"

You consider telling Emily the whole story, but realize that you'll just come off as a lunatic if she can't see you.

"I just need you to come," you say.

"Well, I'm sorry, Parker.  Tomorrow will work much better for me if that's all right.  I can come by right after school," she says.

You sigh.  "Okay, tomorrow then," you say and hang up.  Disappointed, you consider what to do next.<<set $emily.called = true>>
